Passengers + cargo

  • SETUPUse a seat designed for two, passenger footrests, proper gear, adjusted tire pressure and suspension, and re-aimed mirrors/headlight as needed.
  • PASSENGERPassenger mounts only after the engine is running, sits as far forward as practical without crowding, holds the rider’s waist, hips, or belt, keeps feet on the footrests even while stopped, and leans with the rider, looking over the rider’s shoulder in turns.
  • CHILDA child passenger's feet must reach the footrests.
  • RIDEWith extra weight: ride slower in curves, brake sooner, use a larger space cushion, and wait for larger gaps.
  • LOADKeep cargo low, evenly balanced, and over or ahead of the rear axle. Secure it with multiple attachment points and check it often.
  • TRAPWeight behind the rear axle can contribute to wobble. Ropes can stretch and knots can loosen.

Groups + trailers

  • GROUP SIZEKeep the group to 4–5 riders; split larger groups.
  • ORDERUse an experienced leader and tail rider. Put beginners just behind the leader. The last rider sets the pace. Brief the route and hand signals first. Never pair up side by side.
  • STAGGERLeader left; next rider right and 1 second back; same-side rider 2 seconds behind.
  • SINGLE FILEUse single file in curves, turns, and when entering or leaving a highway.
  • PASSINGPass one at a time. After passing, the leader stays left and maintains passing speed to open room for the next rider.
  • TRAILERMaximum 55 mph. Use the far-right lane or the right two lanes when allowed. Do not use the carpool lane and increase following distance.
